27-24, final. The Kansas City Chiefs held of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, leaving the crowd in Orchard Park stunned in silence. Bills kicker Tyler Bass missed a forty-one yard field goal on what turned out to be their final drive, the field would have tied the game. Bills QB Josh Allen played a good game with 3 touchdowns (2 rush) and no turnovers. The Bills offense, which started red hot (scoring on 4 of first 5 possessions) faded with a turnover on downs (failed fake punt), punt, and Bass’ missed field goal on their final 3 drives. The Bill’s defense got shredded for the majority of the game, failing to stop the run, multiple coverage busts, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a lot of time and when he was pressured the Bills couldn’t get him down. This loss makes Josh Allen 0-3 vs. Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs, but to blame him for the Bills loss on Sunday just wouldn’t be fair, as the defense and the big special teams mistake was what was mostly responsible for the loss.
Although it hasn’t been pretty at times for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense this year they came through in a big way in Orchard park and they are getting it together at just the right time. Travis Kelce had a good game, so did MVS, and Rashee Rice made plays at times as well, the Chiefs pass catchers have received have received lots of deserved criticism this year, but they look the best they have all year. Patrick Mahomes had an excellent game, he took care of the football and made big plays when they needed him to. The offensive had a nice game, but the Ravens will present a much bigger challenge. The defense lost some key pieces that may or may not be back for the game at Baltimore next week in linebacker Willie Gay and safety Mike Edwards. The defense did struggle for most of the game, partially because of the injuries, but in the fourth quarter they stepped up and were a big reason why the Chiefs were victorious. This performance by the Chiefs reminds you of great Chiefs teams in recent years and they’re finally playing how we expected them to, but the Ravens have been great all year, Lamar Jackson has been playing at an extremely high level, and their defense is arguably the best in football after holding a Texans offense out of the endzone that had been red hot.
